Mary Shindell, WOY 2008-2009, 2012-2013

Mary Shindell is VP of Data Optics, Inc, a small business owned with her husband, David, who designs and manufactures precision optical research equipment and optical test instruments.

In 2020, Mary retired from Merit Network, where she served as a Member Engagement Manager. Mary joined Merit Network in October 2010 with an extensive career in sales and marketing for technology companies. 

Mary's formal education included a number of degree and certificate programs in the areas of social studies, psychology, guidance and counseling, and organizational development. She holds a BBA from University of Michigan - Flint, an MA from University of Michigan Ann Arbor, and a Graduate Certificate in Organizational Development from Eastern Michigan University, College of Business.

A 2018 Top Ten Business Woman of ABWA and an active participant in ABWA National Women's Leadership Conferences, Mary completed Park University's "Women as 21st Century Leaders" in 2916 and earned an ABWA - KU MBA Essentials certificate in 2017. 

Mary and her husband, David, have hosted international students for over 30 years. They, along with their beloved dog, Chilo, live on Hamburg Lake in Hamburg Township, Michigan.
